SUMMARY: 147 retrospective case reports from 15 Swiss doctors on treatment with the multi-compound preparation Padma 28 were collected and evaluated. PADMA 28 was used successfully in everyday practice as the main medication in 60% of the patients with peripheral circulatory disorders. Together with the treatment of cardiovascular disorders, including disorders of the cerebral circulation, arteriosclerotic diseases thus represent the main area of indications (75%). These include also memory problems, tinnitus and visual disorders. In general practice, other chronic inflammatory conditions such as back pain, joint pain, dizziness, asthenia and fatigue, respiratory disorders, phlebitis and allergies are among the indications for PADMA 28 (25%). The efficacy of the treatment was assessed as good both by the doctors and by the patients (75%). The tolerability, which was assessed as good (94% of the doctors, 85% of the patients) and the application form (82%) are reflected in the good compliance (87%). In around one-quarter of all the patients PADMA 28 was the only medication used. The good results obtained with this Tibetan remedy, particularly as monotherapy in the treatment of the early symptoms of peripheral circulatory disorders, are of significance for the prevention and treatment of arteriosclerotic diseases.
